Deck Installation and Repair
This deck was sinking into the ground on one side and all the decking was rotting out. Client was wanting to replace all 2x4 decking with 5/4 decking, remove and add new steps, jack it up and re-secure beam to post (beams were only secured with nails and most of them were rusted and broken allowing beam to fall). Removed and replaced the bench/planter with a new bench seat only. Joists were on 24" centers so I had to add additional joist to support the new decking. Railing was saved and client was eventually going to stain it on their own.
Client wanted to have a deck built over his old and cracking concrete patio. His yard sharply sloped off to the right of the patio and the deck was made to overhang that area to the fence-line. A privacy fence was used on the right side of the deck and small railing of the back right side. A single step down wraps the rest of the back and half the left side with a mitered corner detail. The deck was laid with 5/4" treated deck boards.
